Old Town Hot Springs is a favorite family getaway, not only for Routt County locals but also for families all around the country. Even though it has a very mainstream appearance with concrete-built pools, giant water slides, and other recreational services, the heart of this place lies in the idea of community and togetherness. The Old Town HS team spent years and all incoming financial gain on expanding the resort and making it into the diverse-service complex that it is today. For decades, this place has served as the only existing public swimming pool in the whole county and continues to do so to this day. Soon enough, through the “It’s In the Water” campaign, the team will fund the reconstruction of the kids’ pool, its surrounding area, and the lap pool and most importantly, will build five additional pools for swimming and rejuvenation. One of the main goals of the campaign is to turn this place into something more budget-friendly. They don’t want Old Town to be a retreat center that local residents can not afford.

The current look of the resort consists of eight outdoor pools (seven of which are chlorinated), both for thermal soaking and swimming, two massive water slides, a 37 feet tall climbing wall (warning: lots of delightedly screaming children), a spa & massage center and a gym.

It also offers educational services and training in aquatics.

The place is especially enjoyable and rewarding during the snowy months. Steamboat Springs – the city Old Town Hot Springs is located in – is one of the most frequented winter destinations because of its beautiful snow-covered landscapes, giving Old Town Hot Springs a little extra something in addition to fewer crowds and a hot n’ cold therapeutic experience.

If you’re looking for serene, tranquil, and authentic-looking hot springs, then Old Town Hot Springs is not for you. Despite fewer winter visitors, this place still gets crowded no matter the season, and as a facility of many properties and purposes, it is frequented not only by hot springs enthusiasts, but also by gym rats, other healthy lifestyle pursuers, and simply vacationers. 

And when we say that there are a lot of delightedly screaming kids, we mean it.

The Pools: What Do They Look Like?

All of the eight pools – including the Olympic size swimming pool – have a real commercialized appearance: built into the concrete, with iron ladders for access, divided by light cobblestones but within walking distance from each other, boasting varying temperatures and looking up at long and twisted waterslides that are stretched overhead.

Sounds like absolute bliss.

The very famous Heart Spring Pool is the main character of the place, considering that it is the main historical object – ever since before the days of colonization  – that the whole facility was built around. It is the thermal source that feeds the rest of the pools and is also the only pool that isn’t chlorinated. 

The thermal water temperature ranges between 90°F-104°F, with the source being the hottest.

• All rates are subject to change without notice.
• Memberships paid in full are non-refundable and run for twelve or four consecutive months. 
• Annual Contract Paid Monthly memberships are prorated for the first month.
• Use your checking, savings, credit, or debit card to set up automatic drafts for payments.
• For individuals who want to cancel an annual, paid-monthly membership: you will lose the annual commitment discount that you received each month. There will be a charge equal to the difference between the annual, paid-monthly rate and the month-to-month rate for each month of membership used. The additional amount will be charged prior to cancellation.
• Membership freezes aren’t available 
• Lifetime Membership renewals are only available for current Lifetime Members paid prior to August 1, 2012.
