OUR TRIP TO JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK

OUR TRIP TO JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK

Hey everyone! We are hoomies, a family of four, based in Delhi, India. We usually travel the world together during our vacations in order to take time out for each other leaving behind our busy lives.

This time with pandemic hitting at us travel became impossible. We always have a keen interest in visiting places with more of nature. We had few places in our mind but then with brother been gone back to complete his higher education and us being emotionally engaged felt like visiting a nearby place which was few hours from our place.

So to cheer us up we planned a road trip to a very relaxing, beautiful place…

JIM CORBETT NATIONAL PARK

This is located at a distance of around 215 km from Delhi and it took us approximately 4 and half hours to reach our location.

We had already made bookings at a beautiful resort -Tiger Camp Resort located in Ramnagar just in the midst of forest 🌳 and greenery. The roads being very good till you reach Simbhaoli around 2 hrs away from Delhi.

Various options are available in case you want for refreshing yourself. And then again got in our SUV and began our journey to the National park 🏞. Good connectivity and a nice straight road to the destination.

Tip 1: Do download your music and Google maps beforehand as you dont get any network along the highway.

Tip 2: If you want to take a loo break and refresh yourself take a break in Simbhaoli because after is a straight road to the destination and it gets difficult to find a place for a refreshment break.

On arrival, we were greeted by the resort in charge and were given a very comfortable nice cottage to stay at. We choose a cottage as it just feels closer to nature and wildlife.

Various options are available in Ramnagar and even around the National park for you to stay at.

Tip 3: In case you are planning to visit there better to choose and pre-book any of the five different zones of Jim Corbett – namely, Bijrani, Jhirna, Dhikala, Dhela, and Durgadevi you wanna visit. Accordingly, you get to see a variety of animals.

So best is to prebook it online either over their direct website or can ask hotel receptionist to book it for you and your family.

Tip 4: You also get to choose between jeep and tanker. They have two shifts – morning(preferred) and afternoon. Carry adhar cards (compulsory for booking). The price may vary for Indians and foreign nationals.

An equal number of safari vehicles are allocated in all zones, and chances of sighting a tiger are there in each zone. However, it is recommended to try to get a safari in the Bijrani, Jhirna, or Dhikala range for higher chances.

Since it was a sudden plan we didn’t get the zone we choose, we visited the Sitamani zone. This zone is just breathtaking and has got amazing wonderful views. If looking for just enjoying the beauty of forest 🌳 and bird watching you should visit this zone. You hardly get to see wildlife in here.

Best time to visit:

  • Summers: If looking for tigers 🐅
  • Winters: For bird watching
  • Monsoons: Pleasant weather

Things to pack and carry:

  • Hats 🧢
  • Sunglasses
  • Mosquito repellents
  • Sunscreen
  • Chips And water ( while on jeep safari)
  • Jackets ( gets windy and chilly 🥶 on an open jeep)
  • Sports Shoes
  • Comfy clothes
  • Cameras 🎥
  • Binoculars ( if you wanna experience wildlife closely)

Thanks for reading us 🥰🥰 Hope it helps you 💜
