The Largest Beach In The World – Discover Unusual Places

The questions about the biggest/smallest longest/shortest… have an inexplicable appeal and attraction. Do you remember our article about the smallest beach in the world? Well, today we want to talk about the largest beach in the world πŸ™‚ We want to inspire you to discover unusual places with us again and again.

Before we talk about Praia do Cassino Beach (this is the name of the longest beach in the world – this time it surely gives you a hint where it could be ;). )… I would like to talk briefly about the 2nd and 3rd longest beach.

In the 3rd place, there is a beach that would be on the 1st place in another category, the longest uninterrupted natural sand beach on earth. It is Cox’s Bazar. When I hear Bazar (or Bazaar to be correct :P), I always think of Arab countries. I’m way off the mark with the location, because Cox’s Bazar is in Bangladesh. The beach is incredible 75 miles (120 km) long! But if you think you can take a long beach walk here… how about Ninety Mile Beach? The name says it all – a 90 miles beach (145km). It is located in Australia. This is also a sandy beach. Unfortunately, we haven’t been there yet, but it’s supposed to be one of the most beautiful places in the world πŸ™‚

But let us leave Australia for now and back to the topic of this article – the largest beach in the world. Do you have any idea where it could be?

1. Reaching the largest beach in the world

The Praia do Cassino Beach, where did you first think it was located? Feel free to write it in the comments πŸ˜› Before we get to the location of the beach, some important information to know:

  • The beach is 158! miles long (254 km)
  • Yes, it is a sandy beach
  • Yes, it consists of saltwater (very clear water)
  • And last but not least – Yes, there are A LOT of water activities

This largest beach is located in Rio Grande do Sul which is the southernmost state of Brazil. Unlike the smallest beach in the world, there are many ways to reach it πŸ˜€ It stretches across a number of towns and cities, including on the coast of Cassino’s city, and is shortly interrupted by the Arroyo Chuy River (which is the border between Brazil and Uruguay).

If you want to visit this amazing beach, we recommend you plan for December or January. With the length of this beach, you can definitely plan a small (or bigger) beach trail over several days. But don’t forget to drink enough and protect yourself from the sun! We are curious if maybe even one of you has already completed the Praia do Cassino trail or is planning it in the future? πŸ™‚

2. Where to stay when visiting the largest beach in the world?

If you’re already really into hiking mode, here are a few recommendations for accommodations along the way. Depending on how fast you want to hike we recommend you to plan 2-3 weeks. On average you can do it in 12 days, but you will surely want to take some beach days in between πŸ™‚

Hotel Laghetto Viverone Rio Grande

Rio Grande is the starting point of your trail. At the same time, it is a beautiful city surrounded by water. In the beginning, you can also treat yourself and choose this stylish 4-star hotel. A delicious breakfast is included in the price. The price is really excellent for the service.

This accommodation is located in Cassino - the largest town along the Praia do Cassino. The location is perfect - only 90m to the beach. The owner is very nice and is eager to give you a wonderful stay.

Barra do Chui

Complejo Alvorada Gardens

As the last accommodation on your trail, we recommend a real gem right near the beach. You can relax and enjoy a few cool drinks on the beach or in your own garden. Another highlight are the windsurfing possibilities nearby.

During your stay in the beautiful Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil, you can explore so much more – like the Lagoa do Peixe National Park and take incredibly beautiful hikes through nature. A highly recommended place – not only because of the largest beach in the world.
