1. The Dal Lake
This is a very beautiful lake situated higher up in Mcleod Ganj. It took us around half-hour around 9 km from the main city centre to reach here. This beautiful lake is as famous as the very famous Dal lake of Kashmir ⚡️. It is one of the natural wonders of India. This is one of the topmost visited places in Dharamshala.
The view is serene. It gained popularity owning to lovely monuments and various natural amenities surrounding the place. The view is just so fresh and mind-blowing. The entire lake is surrounded by beautiful deodar trees 🌲 and beautiful mountains 🏔.
avoid swimming 🏊♀️
Carry comfy shoes and comfy clothes
Market is just a 2 km walk from the lake.
Carry woolens as it gets a bit chilly by the evenings.
It is open to the tourists from 7:00 AM to 8:00 PM
Things to Do here
- If you wish to visit the lake, you can either get here by car/ cab. Or if you are one of the adventurous types can book yourself a guided trek.
- Just in front of the lake is the very famous Lord Shiva Temple 🌝. Tourists travel all the way to offer prayers here. This is one of the auspicious temples of Dharamshala.
- The local market is just a 2 km walk away.
- Can enjoy a great picnic 🧺 in here.
- Boating 🛶
2. Temple of Lord Shiva
There is a small and beautiful temple situated at the bank of the lake. this is a very famous temple of Lord Shiva. After a nice walk around the lake, we proceeded towards the temple and offered our prayers. The vibe was so amazing. This is situated at a higher level and you need to climb up some stairs to reach the temple. After we offered our prayers, we headed forwards. this is one of the most visited temples in Dharamshala. It attracts thousands of devotees all year round.
3. The Triund Point
After spending some quality time here, we got into our cab 🚕 and headed towards one of the very famous trekking locations known as Triund Hill. Though we didn’t plan on going for a trek, what is the harm in checking out wonderful locations? We drove for another hour and reached one of the highest points of the Kangra valley. The view there was just so refreshing and so peaceful. As if you are standing so close to the mountains, to the clouds, and yet so close to mother nature.
If you happen to visit here, do check out local vendors selling Maggie. It is just so delicious, so yummy. It is one of the best food that you can actually have sitting at such an awesome location. We even got ourselves clicked in their local beautiful dress.
UNIQUE EXPERIENCES IN Dharamshala
After spending quality time here, it was time for us to proceed forwards and onto the next destination. As we were passing by we decided to visit one of the very famous and most beautiful churches here.
As we were already quite tired by now, we took a nice spot around Mc Leod Ganj and enjoyed a great time with family. we just sat there watching the birds, the beautiful landscape, and listening to the song of nature. It was just a nice and magical evening.
